Watch: Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat” on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Apr 1st
The Ankh has returned! Erykah Badu celebrated Tuesday’s release of her latest album, New Amerykah Part Two: The Return of the Ankh, by performing “Window Seat” on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ At this point, I’ve seen her perform this song three different times, and I can honestly say that performance is my favorite of the three.
For those of you who were stunned by the nudity in her artistically masterful “Window Seat” video, take comfort in the fact the singer remains fully clothed.

Watch: Erykah Badu Takes It All Off In “Window Seat” Video
Mar 29th
[Editor's Note: This may be considered NSFW by some of our tight-assed employers. -Jermaine]
The Erykah Badu hype machine is in full effect! The singer has just released the video for her first single, “Window Seat” from the upcoming LP, New Amerykah Part Two: The Return of the Ankh, which comes out TOMORROW! Best believe I’ll be buying it LEGALLY on iTunes as soon as the clock strikes midnight. “Window Seat” is arguably one of Badu’s best videos, certainly one of her most creative.
Filmed in one take in Dallas’ Dealy Plaza (site of the JFK assassination), “Window Seat” features Badu walking through the streets while removing every single article of her clothing, climaxing with a great statement on conformity at the end. Whether you’re an Erykah fan or not, I strongly suggest you watch this video and draw some inspiration from it.
If you’ve been asleep these last few weeks, know that Erykah Badu is definitely about her grind. On Thursday the singer was on The Wendy Williams Show. Earlier this month the singer performed on Jimmy Fallon. And who can forget her video with a pre-incarcerated Lil Wayne, her own leak of “Strawberry Incense” or the subsequent leak of “Get Munny “by the Internets.

Watch: Erykah Badu Performs “Window Seat” on Wendy Williams
Mar 26th
The Erykah Badu hype machine is in full effect. Her latest album New Amerykah Park Two: The Return of the Ankh hits stores on Tuesday. The singer recently dropped a video with Lil Wayne, appeared on Jimmy Fallon, and even leaked her own track on her website. The singer has even taken time out of her busy schedule to show some love to your favorite blogger.
Yesterday I posted a link to a new song which I’m almost entirely certain is on the new album. Today I bring you footage of the singer’s live appearance on The Wendy Williams show, a performance in which, Badu later admitted on her Twitter, she forgot the words to the first verse. I don’t think anyone minds.
If you’re in the New York area, be sure to catch Erykah on Good Day New York, later today. Next week, the singer will jam with Jimmy Kimmel (March 30), Wanda Sykes (April 3) and Chelsea Lately (April 5). Check your local listings for exact times, etc.

Leak: Erykah Badu “Turn Me Away (Get Munny)”
Mar 25th
With less than a week to go before Erykah Badu’s latest album New Amerykah Pt. 2: The Return of The Ankh, hits the streets, it’s no surprise that tracks are beginning to leak. Check out this remix-like creation of Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s 90′s posse jam, Get Money.
As this is a leak, I cannot confirm if this is the actual track on the album that bears the name “Get Money.” For all I know it could be a b-side or something meant to be left on the cutting room floor. For that reason, I have left the track name as Take Me Away, if/when I receive information otherwise, I will update this post. Enjoy!

Watch Usher Video “Lil Freak” Featuring Nicki Minaj
Mar 25th
Ladies and gentlemen, Usher is finally in the building. After his creatively questionable mea culpa “Guilty” hit the streets a couple weeks ago, I was worried that Usher would no longer be a relevant force in pop music. Thankfully his newest video for “Lil Freak” featuring Nicki Minaj shows us the R&B crooner still has a pulse. The song features a nice beat with a sample from one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs, “Golden Lady” “Living For The City.” (Thanks for the correction, Mia.) Continuing his legacy of celebrity exhibitionism, this time Usher reveals his love of threesomes. Lil Wayne protege Niki Minaj also brings the fire with her freaky bisexual flow. I guess they don’t call her Nikki Minaj for ‘nothin. Usher’s Raymond vs. Raymond drops next week.

Watch: Trina, “Million Dollar Girl” featuring Keri Hilson, Diddy
Mar 25th
Da Baddest Bitch, Trina, dropped a new video recently with guest appearances from Diddy and Keri Hilson. The video features Trina grinding against rented sports cars that match her outfit, seated in nondescript ambiguous corporate environments and ‘chillin in private jets she does not own. It’s amazing that someone who supposedly has so much money still manages to look like a stripper.
The single itself is not half bad, but it doesn’t sound like a Trina song. Most likely, the result of Keri Hilson’s forgettable contribution. So forgettable, in fact, Hilson sings into a microphone labeled with her name since she has the charisma of an overgrown shrubbery. Diddy’s involvement and the decadent capitalistic themes pictured in the video make this clip feel like a 90′s Bad Boy Records video, without any of the cool factor.

Watch New Robin Thicke Video “Rollacoasta” Featuring Estelle
Mar 22nd
Robin Thicke just dropped his second or third video in support of his latest LP, Sex Therapy. Confused? Let me offer a bit of clarification: “Rollacoasta,” the upbeat disco jam that you’re getting ready to watch, features Estelle and is slated to be the singer’s second single outside the States.
We Yankees will have to wait for the video for our second single, “It’s in the Mornin” featuring Snoop Dogg and Manuela Arbeláez from “The Price is Right” playing Thicke’s love interest. The video was shot sometime in March and has no scheduled release date that I could find. Until that fateful day, I invite you to ride Thicke’s “Rollacoasta,” which has to be quite thrilling given it’s dangerous use of misspelling.

Hear New R. Kelly Track – “Speaking My Language”
Mar 17th
Say what you will about R. Kelly, but the man is certainly not lazy. The singer just released his ninth solo album, Untitled, in November of last year and he’s dropped a new single already! I’ve been a fan of R. Kelly in the past during his tp2.com and Chocolate Factory releases and, despite all the drama, would return if the crooner hit some sort of post-pedophilic urinary creative zeitgeist. Take a listen and tell me if I’m wrong, but I’m not getting the “creative peak” vibe from this track. Take a listen and let me know what you think.
Usher Airs Out Dirty Laundry With “Guilty” Featuring T.I.
Mar 13th
I think I might have seen some skid marks in that laundry basket.
Usher’s 2004 behemoth Confessions was one of my favorite pop albums of the previous decade. If “Guilty” is any indication, it looks like the oft-delayed Raymond vs. Raymond, due March 26, will be yet another album to avoid.
I gotta be honest. There’s nothing hot about this track. In fact, I think I my heart rate might have actually slowed as I listened. After I was done I felt my forehead and I felt a few degrees cooler than I normal. And I’m pretty sure that it gave me gas. There is nothing notable in the production. His voice doesn’t sound great. And, on a personal note, I don’t agree with the central idea of this song.
Okay, lemme back it up. In a Confessions-esque moment, Usher gives the listener a glimpse into his troubled or perhaps failed marriage to that girl that he wasn’t sure he was gonna marry in the first place, Tameka Foster (I don’t care about the details of his personal life, I care about the music). His chorus: “I guess I’m guilty for wanting to be up in the club, I guess I’m guilty cause girls always want to show me love, I guess I’m guilty for leaving and having a little fun.” I guess I agree with him.
Last time I checked, being famous is no apology for infidelity. This is the equivalent of Bill saying to Hillary “I guess I’m guilty for getting my knob slobbed by that homely girl.”
I guess I’m guilty for wanting to listen good music.
I could go on and on, or you could listen for yourself.
